To prepare land for bean planting, clear land of all vegetation by slashing, cutting excess trees and burning them offsite during the dry season before the start of the rains;
Deeply plough land at 15-30cm,
Plough again after 2 weeks to level the land and remove all vegetation which are available.
Fertilization
In acidic soil, apply 2.5-5 Tons of lime per Ha two weeks before planting. The lime has residual effect for 4 consecutive seasons;
Add 10 Tons of well decomposed manure per Ha at the second ploughing
Add 100 kgs of DAP per Ha or 200 kg of NPK 17-17-17 at the planting time.
